2 tips to realize you ARE doing enough

How many of us feel like what we’re doing now just isn’t enough? 

We’ve got to do
more
better
faster.

Last week we talked about comparing ourselves to others, but this week I want to talk about how we compete against ourselves.

Do you ever feel like you’re trying to outdo your last accomplishment?

Or you’re moving at warp speed, constantly going from one thing to the next?

Do you ever take the time to just sit back and CELEBRATE all that you’ve achieved?

Or are you laughing right now at how ridiculous this sounds? 😂😂

But really, if you stopped for a moment to reflect, you’d probably realize you’ve actually done quite a lot!

But we move so fast. We’re constantly looking ahead, and we completely fail to recognize this.

This past weekend we led a money mindset workshop at a gorgeous meditation studio and event space.

I’ve literally dreamed about teaching in this space, and it’d taken over 5 months for it to come together since initially talking with the owner.

After the workshop, I came home jumping up and down excitedly telling my boyfriend how well it went.

But within an hour, I noticed my thoughts had completely shifted. “Okay cool that went well. Where can I do the next one?”

And just like that, all the hype, all the excitement, was over. 

No more monkeys jumping on the bed.

I recalled then how when we started this business, I received advice to take time to celebrate our achievements.

This is something I even share with my clients all the time! In order to keep fueling our journey, we have to acknowledge ourselves for what we’re doing well (especially since our focus often goes to the opposite).

I’ve got the self-acknowledgement down. Every night I write down at least one thing that went really well that day. I keep this in a separate journal so I can flip back and see what I was doing 3 months, 6 months, a year ago.

It always amazes me how far I’ve come in such a short amount of time.

It’s a constant reminder that even if it feels like I’m moving slowly, big changes are happening over time. I’m growing, expanding, and I feel so darn proud of myself!

But what about actually celebrating our larger achievements? The ones that take weeks or even months to prepare for. What would that even look like?

Does it really make sense to just STOP DOING for a moment in time to celebrate?

We do this for birthdays and anniversaries, but when it comes to our personal or professional accomplishments, the ones that actually take a lot of effort, we’re so used to judging ourselves over how productive we’ve been, that it feels like we’re never doing enough.

To actually pause our efforts to celebrate would require a MAJOR shift. Don’t you think?

The funny thing is I even planned to celebrate completing my workshop with a massage, but as I look at my schedule for this week, I just don’t see where I can make it happen.

I PLAN to celebrate, but it doesn’t always happen.

Why not? Because we have to make changes in ways that don’t compromise our current lifestyle and schedule. This is the only way it will work, otherwise too much gets in the way, we make a million excuses, and we never follow through.

You can probably think of a time (or twenty) where that happened to you too, can’t you?

For me, it seems a massage isn’t the best choice right now. So instead, I’d like to take a little time this afternoon to sit outside and indulge in a book. The weather in Florida right now is FINALLY starting to cool down (highs below 90 degrees?? YES! ❄️) and I want to be outside to enjoy as much of it as I can.

Plus I’m really digging romance novels lately 😍 They’re light, fun, and inspire me to keep breathing fresh love into my relationship.

Now I turn it over to YOU!

As you go about your day, I want to encourage you to do TWO THINGS to start making the shift toward acknowledging your progress, and realize that you ARE doing enough.

Tip #1
Think back over the past 3 to 6 months, and write down all the shifts and all the accomplishments you’ve made, no matter how big or small. You might be surprised by how much you’ve grown.

Do this RIGHT NOW if you can!

Tip #2
Find something nice to do for yourself as a way to say “Damn I’m awesome!” It doesn’t have to be anything huge. But it should feel good and it should fit easily into your schedule. Otherwise, just like my massage, you probably won’t do it.
